Coverage is growing
The directory combines public provider facts with reusable government and open data. It currently includes nationwide outpatient mental-health facilities, legal-aid organizations mapped from Legal Services Corporation data, Texas county mental-health crisis contacts, selected sexual-assault exam locations across several U.S. states, selected Texas survivor and practical-support services, and national support lines. Coverage varies by category and location. It does not contain all programs in Findhelp or 211.
An empty search does not mean no help exists. Call 211 for local navigation, or choose another directory. Each provider confirms services, eligibility, cost and availability. Listings are independent resources; they do not establish a partnership.
Nearby counseling and treatment
The facility source is SAMHSA’s 2025 National Directory of Mental Health Treatment Facilities, based on the 2024 N-SUMHSS survey. We select facilities reporting outpatient care and a therapy service. These are historical facility listings, not currently verified appointments or a list of certified survivor specialists. Ask about trauma-informed counseling, age requirements, language access and payment before visiting.
Nearby results use approximate ZIP-code centers within 50 miles. ZIPs can cross county lines, and distance is not a guarantee that a facility serves your address. State borders do not prevent a facility appearing nearby. Review local eligibility directly with the provider. We show a limited selection of matches with nearer facilities first.
Local civil legal aid
Legal-aid organization names, public contacts and service-area maps come from Legal Services Corporation data, which LSC makes available under CC0. We match a ZIP representative point to mapped areas. ZIPs can cross service boundaries; a match is a possible contact, not a confirmation that the organization can take your case.
Income, case type and other program rules may apply. Some source areas have missing or unusable maps, so the search is not a complete eligibility lookup. Contact the provider or use LSC’s own directory if no result appears.
Sexual assault exam locations
Selected exam locations across several U.S. states are checked against official provider information, with expanded coverage in Texas. Their public addresses, age guidance and source-check dates appear in search. Separate navigation entries help people find other exam programs across the U.S. Coverage remains incomplete, including in states with listed facilities.
A listing confirms what the official source says, not current examiner availability. Nearby results use approximate ZIP-center distance. Exam records have a maximum 30-day review window and are withheld when that window expires.
Texas crisis and survivor services
Texas mental-health crisis contacts are matched to counties using Texas Health and Human Services information, with provider-source corrections where needed. These services address mental-health crises; they are not all sexual-assault or domestic-violence specialists. The national sexual-assault and domestic-violence hotlines remain available in Find Support.
Other Texas records summarize selected providers’ public service and contact information. No confidential shelter location is published in this directory. A hotline can help you discuss options without requiring an in-person visit.
Geographic data and source credit
ZIP reference data comes from GeoNames under the Creative Commons Attribution license. We use it to estimate locations and match county or state service areas. Geographic data can be incomplete or approximate. A ZIP match alone cannot determine eligibility.
SAMHSA directory data is credited to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. We are not endorsed by SAMHSA, GeoNames or listed providers. Provider names are used to identify services; their logos are not used.
Reviews and corrections
A source review date tells you when we checked the source or imported a published dataset. It does not mean the provider confirmed an opening on that date. Older dataset dates remain visible on affected records. Records have review deadlines and are withheld from search when their review expires.
Emily Runnels manages directory updates. To report an incorrect listing, email hello@untilshessafe.org with the provider’s name and the correction. Please do not include a survivor’s story or case records.
Food, financial-assistance and shelter listings are currently limited to selected providers and navigation services. We are seeking authorized directory data to expand these categories. Military-mail ZIPs without a domestic area, and locations missing from our reference data, cannot be searched accurately here.
Privacy when searching
Your ZIP and selected category are processed by our server to search the directory. Our application does not save them or forward them to the data sources. Choosing a provider website, call or text opens that service and may leave device or provider records.
